Eng. Sarqaini, Deputy Minister in mining affairs of the Ministry of Industries and Mines in an interview with ILNA News Agency announced" Iran will reach self sufficiency in mineral exploration and exploitation by the end of the 4th year Economic Development Plan (2005—10). He further added that "Kurdistan gold mine is now under exploitation and its final extraction will be carried but by collaboration of British investor".
Confirming a 70 percent foreign investment in this project he declared "there is no limitation for foreign investment in Iran’s mine sector provided that national interests to be observed."
Deputy Minister emphasized that "some million dollars investment by Industries and Mines Ministry and foreign investor has been made in Iran’s mine sector such as Kurdistan gold mine that has been caused increasing employment, activation of mines as well as well optimized of mineral reserves" pointing to the satellite equipments such as exploration planes and machineries, he stated that Iran would reach self-sufficiency in this respect with in five years.
He said special attention would be paid to training specialized man power with cooperation of expertise foreign group during the 4th year development plan.
