National Cartographic Center of Iran is compiling collections of maps and land information to make available comprehensive data on location of various provinces, the center’s deputy head for technical affairs said.
Highlighting the importance of map and location information in state management and planning, development and progress, Mohammad Sarpoulaki told ISNA that the collections titled ’Atlas of Provincial Maps and Location Information’ are under compilation.
The official expanded that the atlas, once prepared, would be made available to the Majlis deputies, governor generals’ offices, municipalities, Ministry of Housing and Urban Development as well as other related organizations.
Each atlas is in A4 format, is printed in four colors and has 16 pages, he stated.
Sarpoulaki further noted that the atlas also contains maps on provincial demarcations, location and status of geodesic and geodynamic stations, guidance on how maps in scale of 1:25,000, 1:100,000 are prepared, National Topography Data Base, records of operators of Geographic Information Systems(GIS), satellite pictures, etc.
