Alireza Jami’, head of Yazd Industries and Mines Organization, said: In spite of increased allocation for public mines, allocation for 200 mines in Yazd is equal to 5 mines. He said to ISNA Correspondent that Yazd, with 1.3% population, extracted 10% of Iran mineral resources.
He added: 8800 citizens of Yazd work in mining section. Iron Ore and Coal are the two major mineral substances in Yazd. Industries and Mines Organization is aimed to increase mineral processing, so mineral exports earnings were $8.6 million in 2003 and decreased by $3 million in 2004.
