Bones that were found by construction workers digging at the site of the new San Joaquin County administration building in downtown Stockton Wednesday are believed to be those of a wooly mammoth, an animal that has been extinct for tens-of-thousands-of-years.  Tail and femur [[FEE-murr]] bones were found about 65-feet below the surface at the corner of Weber Avenue and San Joaquin Street.  An assistant professor of biology at the University of the Pacific in Stockton estimates the bones may have been there for 30-thousand-years.  Greg Anderson added the bones could have gone completely undiscovered if the building that had been on the site hadn't been torn down.  The bones will be sent to the University Of California Museum Of Paleontology in Berkeley for study.
