Drilling commences at Lake Dundas

Air core drilling is underway at Epsilon Energy’s Lake Dundas Uranium project, located south of Norseman in the Eucla Basin, where the company has 100% uranium rights. The Lake Dundas Uranium project covers 64sqkm and is considered prospective for sandstone-hosted uranium deposits. Previous work in the 1950s confirmed highly anomalous values of uranium in Tertiary sediments immediately to the north of the project (up to 1525 ppm), however no modern exploration methods have been applied since that time. According to Epsilon, a Tertiary palaeochannel is interpreted to pass through the Lake Dundas project, an interpretation that is constrained by considerable exploration drilling, mostly outside the tenement, and analysis of remote sensing data. Epsilon said a confluence of palaeodrainages and a zone of restricted flow, both of which are favourable characteristics for the creation of uranium mineralisation, occur in the project area. The geological environment is also considered favourable for supergene enrichment of uranium mineralisation. Epsilon said the aim of the drilling is to further define the geometry of the palaeochannel, the thickness and stratigraphy of the channel fill to identify potential aquifers and trap sites, and to locate areas of uranium mineralisation.
