Epsilon expands airborne EM

Uranium exploration company, Epsilon Energy has expanded its airborne....

Uranium exploration company, Epsilon Energy has expanded its airborne electromagnetic survey to include the Balladonia Central Target Group within its flagship Balladonia Uranium Project during July.Located in the Eucla Basin, 120km northeast of Esperance, the Balladonia Uranium Project covers 7500sqkm and is one of Australia’s largest continuous uranium exploration projects. Historic exploration within the project area previously demonstrated encouraging uranium results, however no modern exploration tools, such as EM remote sensing applications, have been applied to the project. Epsilon’s work program will provide the appropriate data to build a geological model and effectively delineate drill targets. The aim of the survey is to define the topography of the basement channel and map the palaeochannel system, which drains the adjacent radiogenic Yilgarn Craton, where uranium is sourced and deposited into the surrounding lignite rocks. This environment is favourable to large-scale sandstone-hosted uranium deposits.Epsilon Energy Managing Director, Matt Gauci said the additional survey was crucial to planning an effective drill program at Balladonia, which was a high priority project for the company during the September Quarter. “As one of the largest continuous uranium exploration projects in Australia, yet with no modern systemic exploration since Rio Tinto successfully identified and drilled parts of the area early 1980s, we are excited by this project’s prospects and very eager to commence drilling,” Mr Gauci said. “The project area is also very large and this airborne EM survey will greatly assist in refining our exploration model so that we can get the rigs on the ground as efficiently and effectively as possible, to correlate uranium assays with high gamma logs previously reported, and hence continue to build a large scale uranium exploration model,” he said.
