First JORC compliant resource for Saudi project

Sydney-based ADV Group has announced an interim JORC compliant resource....

Sydney-based ADV Group has announced an interim JORC compliant resource estimate of 46.2 million tonnes for part of the Jabal Sayid copper-zinc project in Saudi Arabia. The initial JORC compliant resource includes 828,000 tonnes of contained copper and 87,000 tonnes of contained zinc, but does not include the results of ADV’s successful 2007 drilling program on the expanding deposits.ADV, which is currently buying into the Jabal Sayid project and other Saudi Arabian mineral prospects, said an updated JORC compliant resource was scheduled for completion later this year and would include the more recent drill results. The maiden JORC compliant resource estimate, announced yesterday, was based on the available historical drilling and underground sampling mainly completed by major French group BRGM, and results of the 2006 diamond drilling program completed by ADV at two of the three major mineralised zones at Jabal Sayid.ADV said the resource does not include precious metals and excludes significant areas of known sulphide mineralisation and historic mineralised drill intercepts, for which there was insufficient data to include at this stage.ADV Group Chairman, Fletcher Quinn said the interim Indicated and Inferred resource statement, which was for the copper and zinc components of the copper-gold project, totalled 46.2 million tonnes at 1.8% Cu, including 6.5 million tonnes at 1.55% Cu and 1.3% Zn.“This further highlights the potentially world-class scale of the Jabal Sayid deposit, and its potential for further substantial growth with ongoing exploration,” Mr Quinn said.“The current resource estimate…comprises a substantial inventory of contained metal totalling approximately 828,000 tonnes of copper and 87,000 tonnes of zinc,” he said.
