Gold intersections ranging up to 12.79 g/t have been reported in the latest assays received from the recent 2008 reverse circulation drilling program undertaken by Southern Gold Limited on its Bulong South Prospect in Western Australia. The results are for 15 of the 51 holes drilled over March and April by Southern Gold at Bulong South, 30km southeast of Kalgoorlie. Gold intersections include 31m @ 1.71g/t Au, including 8m @ 4.47g/t Au and 4m @ 4.34g/t Au, including 1m @ 12.79g/t Au. Southern Gold said nickel results were still pending and will be reported once assays have been returned and evaluated. Holes BSRC074 and BRSC075 were drilled to test for a southern extension of a new gold target, a recently reported gold intercept of 25m @ 4.05 g/t Au (BNRC010) by Northern Mining Limited, located metres from Southern Gold’s tenement boundary. Results included a broad gold zone of 31m @ 1.71g/t Au from 27m, including 8m @ 4.47g/t in BSRC075 and 18m @ 0.27g/t Au from 63m in BSRC074. From the magnetics, a prominent north-south structure transects this target and may control mineralisation or act as the fluid pathway. Drilling intersected predominately quartz veined dolerite, basalt, mafic and ultramafic schist, undifferentiated ultramafic and serpentinite intruded by felsic intrusive bodies and diorite. Alteration mainly included silicification, chlorite and lesser sulphide and hematite. Once assay results have been received from the remaining 36 gold holes, including anticipated nickel assays, and have been collated and entered into the database, Southern Gold said geology logs and cross sectional and 3D plots will be produced for interpretation, with recommendations for follow-up drilling.
