Presented in the ECO Experts Group Meeting: Proposals by the Geological Survey of Iran in the Field of Geoscience Hazards

The 4th ECO experts group meeting (EGM) on disaster risk reduction (DRR)hosted by the GSI started its work in ECO secretariat in Tehran this morning

Regarding the subject of the meeting, the GSI experts and specialists presented such proposals on the natural hazards as preparing the zonation map of landslide throughout the ECO member states territory, studying the evaluation map of Quaternary climate change in ECO region, preparing the evaluation map of geohazards risk in the mining areas of ECO member countries and zoning of floods and inundation there.

It is worth noting that the 4th co-thinking of the ECO specialists and managers aiming at sharing the new ideas and visions as well as solving the problems of the geohazards section with the emphasis on the subsidence and earthquake phenomena in ECO region took place so that the participants could fortify the regional effort to prevent and minimize the undesirable impacts of the natural hazards via providing certain tools and methods together with the international procedures.
