Regional LANDTEM survey at Laverton

Magma Metals has commenced a regional surface electro-magnetic (LANDTEM) ....

Magma Metals has commenced a regional surface electro-magnetic (LANDTEM) survey over two extensive ultramafic units, adjacent to the Windarra Ultramafic Unit, at the Laverton Nickel Project. The LANDTEM survey will cover a cumulative strike length of approximately 60km of these nickel-prospective ultramafic units with the ability to detect massive-sulphide bodies to 300m depth. The Laverton Nickel Project covers an approximately 1,000sqkm ground position in the vicinity of Laverton in the northeast Yilgarn Craton. Part of the project area is adjacent to the Windarra and South Windarra nickel sulphide deposits, hosted in the Windarra Ultramafic Unit, which together produced approximately 85,000 tonnes of nickel. Magma said the main nickel-sulphide exploration targets are the Red Flag and Lancefield Ultramafic Units, which have a combined strike length of over 60km, with very similar geology to the Windarra Ultramafic Unit. The company said the Red Flag and Lancefield units are largely under cover and have not been subjected to modern systematic nickel exploration. A large surface LANDTEM survey using 100m moving loops on 200m spaced lines has commenced over the Red Flag and Lancefield Ultramafic Units. According to Magma, the survey will take approximately six months to complete and will provide a comprehensive map of EM conductors, potentially reflecting massive-sulphide bodies, to approximately 300m depth along the entire combined 60km strike length of these ultramafic units. The company said that EM targets would be prioritised and drill-tested as the survey progresses. Magma is earning a 100 percent interest in the Ni-Cu-PGE rights to the Laverton project from Metex Resources.
