Ongoing drilling at Curnamona Energy Limited’s wholly owned Oban project has continued to extend the area of significant uranium mineralisation in an area indicated by historic drillhole data.Curnamona has identified a new area of mineralisation through wide spaced drilling in the far west of Mineral Claim 3777, in drillhole CEY 155, and to the north. According to Curnamona, all areas of uranium mineralisation that have been outlined so far within Exploration Licence 3181 lie within a 7km-long prospective zone defined by scattered anomalous results from previous drilling. More than 150 hectares of potentially economic grades of uranium have been defined within the comparatively small portion of the area drilled by the company. Curnamona said that, in general, infill drilling had established continuity between the various higher-grade zones. The company is continuing to drill in the area, with the objective of expanding the area of known mineralisation. Curnamona said the company was working towards obtaining permitting for a field leach trial to establish the amenability of these sands to in situ uranium recovery methods.
