Diversified Pilbara explorer Warwick Resources has commenced drilling at its Jimblebar channel iron target on the company’s 100 percent-owned Jimblebar and Copper Range projects near Newman. Warwick identified the Jimblebar channel iron deposit (CID) in May after following up geophysical and Landsat targets for channel iron. The discovery marked an exciting development for the company, which is advancing its iron ore projects. Managing Director Bruce McQuitty said Warwick had identified iron ore targets in a known producing region dominated by large and emerging iron ore companies. “We have been able to outline significant iron ore targets on our existing tenements, and have managed to acquire new prospective iron ore ground close to established mines and infrastructure,” Mr. McQuitty said. “We are now undertaking a drilling program across a number of the key targets with an aim of further upgrading and advancing these projects,” he said. The CID drilling program will include a traverse of 20m spaced holes across the 120m wide deposit to obtain grade and channel profile information. Warwick has also identified targets for Marra Mamba iron ore along the northern margin of its Copper Range project tenements. Marra Mamba ore is prized by iron ore producers for blending due to its low to moderate phosphorous content, and Warwick will undertake drilling on these targets as part of the current program.
